When the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change hit the panic button last week and said we have 12 years to radically change the way we live if we want to stave off an extinction level event, they were being generous. We are already in the throws of dramatic shifts that are affecting millions of people around the world. We're just at the beginning of a very life-threatening journey. Does this mean we're toast? That's up to us. I will, however, say that the report does 2 harmful things:
1. Humans tend to procrastinate. If someone tells us we have 12 years to get something right, politicians will have us wait til the 11th year to take action. That would be like telling a smoker "if you don't stop smoking, you'll die of cancer in a few years". The smoker may believe she has a few years, but all during this time before death, she's lost a lung. She developed cancer. Her overall health is severely compromised and her quality of life becomes a living hell that she'll wish she had died long ago.
2. We have yet to change our language to climate change adaptation. There is a part of us that believes we can keep climate change from happening. That window passed a few years back. This is not about arguing with people who believe its a hoax. This is not about doing a march with the people who believe if we recycle, we can halt the effects of a warming earth. This is about "how do we re-imagine our existence to live on a dramatically changed planet?"
The socioeconomic geopolitical challenges we'll see over the next 10 years will be like nothing else we've ever seen before, as people fight to stay alive during drought, floods, famine, food insecurity, mass migration and weather disaster after weather disaster.
Now, for the good news.
This need not be the end of human life on earth. It will, however, force us to come up with more imaginative, bolder ideas of how we're going to live with each other. Make no mistake. There are those who still think they can skip this whole experience and make off with millions. Fortunately, there are creative models being developed as we speak that lay the foundation of a new kind of life on earth. It's just unfortunate we had to wait for the emergence of this crisis to take action.
Myself and my colleagues are developing one such model, complete with a digital currency we'll be able to use as back up in case challenges occur. It's called Universal Basic Resources in partnership with Earth Dollar. https://www.leadtheshift.com/ubr-super-groups.html
Those of you who have already signed up will receive your loaded digital currency VISA debit card by the end of this coming November/early December. You'll be asked to spend it inside of the UBR global platform for services, partnerships, goods and opportunities. Also, we're going to start the production of affirmation videos. If you're a member, send me a note of things you'd like to tell yourself, and my production team will create a video that you can play in your meditation, at work, at play or anytime. Listen to the example at the bottom of this page...https://www.leadtheshift.com/advisorconsultant.html Get one specially made for you, or get the general ones released once a month. .
If you're read the book The Power of Habit, https://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/the-power-of-habit-charles-duhigg/1103588638/2660413837150?st=PLA&s... you know that making a suggestion to yourself on an ongoing, disciplined basis can literally change your life. At this point and time, the world needs affirmative, empowered people. We want to do our part.
Again, if you're already signed up, write me now at email@example.com and let me know what you'd want your affirmation tape to say to you. Then, wait for your Earth Dollar card in the next 30 to 60 days. If you haven't signed up, write me at firstname.lastname@example.org and let's get you on board.

jWith the rise in authoritarianism around the world https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/monkey-cage/wp/2016/03/11/its-not-just-trump-authoritarian-popul... more and more communities will find a disconnect between some of their desires and the direction of the State. However, in a globalized and connected world, there are many resources communities are taking advantage of to meet the needs of their community members. I'm not trying to give the impression that there should be disconnect between local communities and the State. Rather, local communities are taking up their responsibility in addressing the needs of their areas and looking to the State to become a partner in the community's plan. . Even more, there are more resources at their disposal than any other time in human history. Here is trending information about the new role of localism in affecting long standing challenges and in helping lead the world. .

Do you need a college degree to succeed in life? It has been pounded in us that a college degree was not only important, but necessary in a world that demands a higher level of understanding. While it is true that the world requires a higher level of understanding, college is no longer the only place where you can become your greatest self.https://www.mydomaine.com/why-you-dont-need-a-college-degree
Can autonomous cars bankrupt a city? Yes, they can. This is one of those affects of autonomous robots (like the coming autonomous unemployment crisis) few people talk about because it's a difficult subject. https://www.wired.com/story/autonomous-vehicles-might-drive-cities-to-financial-ruin/
Can Africa technologically leap frog the West? In a world....maybe. It all depends on the quality of the partnerships African nations create with other world partners. Although I found this article flawed, it does provide some insight. http://www.worldbank.org/en/news/opinion/2017/10/11/africa-can-enjoy-leapfrog-development
