I've shared extensively about Universal Basic Income and how it could possibly help mitigate the challenges that would emerge from massive unemployment created from the rise of automation. I'm leaning even more into this conversation because of two concerns:
1. The window to the impact of automation is getting smaller...in other words, it only be a 2-3 years before we start feeling a dramatic rise in automation displacement.
2. The current administrations in the US and several other countries seem to indicate that they are not open to a discussion on Universal Basic Income.
It becomes important for communities to start having conversations about this subject matter now. Having these kinds of conversations in the eye of the storm can lead to bad decisions made out of fear instead of visionary thinking. As some of you are aware, LEAD Global is moving forward with a privately-funded plan to test a small-scale version of a UBI here in the States as a way of getting ahead of this conversation and answering questions that are particular to the US. This will be a year long venture. If you are interested in participating, please don't hesitate to write me before the end of this week at email@example.com
